Electronic Tachometer with Odometer Gear Set. E1 gear is always a 12-tooth drive gear, E2 the second gear is always 48x12 with a flat back, and black, E3 gear has 48 teeth on the outside, and then between 12 and 21 teeth on the underside gear, original gear is amber in color. (Must count teeth on original gear before ordering). {If you cannot count the teeth on the main gear, then count the teeth of the next gear it meshes with. Cable Driven Speedometer: There are potentially two gears that can go bad. First is the gear on the side of the speedometer. If your gear is metal then you will not need this gear. If it is plastic inspect closely where the shaft comes through the gear as there will generally be a hairline crack and the gear must fit tight.

Cable Driven Speedometer: Second is the lead gear on the same rail. Check to make sure it is tight on the shaft. Using a small screwdriver, see if it spins on the shaft. If it does, you should replace this gear as well. There are three sizes. All you need to do is measure the overall thickness. Sizes are nominal
